2010
j.t.a.c. moved from Florida to Bay City, Michigan. I moved back to Michigan to be near my family. Web sites remain my primary work, but the past few years have seen increased production of traditional graphics. Newpaper and magazine ads, business cards, brochures, etc.
2008-2010
I was working on many different design fronts. Mostly web site design and production. Also print and graphic design as well as any interesting graphic need someone has. Also, really enjoying a change of pace in furniture design and manufacturing.
2004-2007
A fairly stable period of time. Some new clients while at the same time some previous clients leave for new directions or simply stop their internet efforts. Good years with good businesses allowed for some good web site designs and as always, learning new things as the internet is always changing.
2002-2003
A building period. As explained in 2001 below, I had zero clients at the start of this period of time and had to find clients/work. I was fortunate to meet and work with many groups at this time who showed faith in me and allowed my business to continue and grow. I really do than them all.
2001
This was a pivotal year in my history. Prior to the 9-11 attacks I was employed exclusively by a travel agency in Clearwater, FL to produce their extensive collection of travel sites. After the 9-11 attacks the travel industry suffered greatly and I was "terminated". Thus, at this time I was virtually un-employed and had no clients.
1999-2001
The internet "boom" years. This was the point in times when business finally saw the value of the internet and web sites. As I was already quite experienced at designing and producing web sites, my services were in high demand. Two of many clients at the time wanted to "buy" my services exclusively. They both made VERY generous offers and I took one of them. So, for a couple years I was making the big bucks. That was nice, but no surprise, it was not reality and only a brief period of time in the big picture.
1995-1998
I began creating web sites back in the "gray background" days. I continued to evolve as the internet evolved. My clientele was quite diverse and based more nationally than locally as the internet had not grown to a point that one could target only local business. Many clients, I never met but working next to or far away from a client concerning web side design and development is not a problem.
1983-1994
I was basically a freelance graphic designer through this time period. I established jtac (jeff tanner artistic concepts) to produce traditional graphic media. Projects ranged from traditional printed material (brochures, ads, promotional material), to illustrations, to photo manipulation, special effects (2D, 3D and motion graphics), to signage, to patent drawings, to GUI interfaces for applications, to logo creation, and just about any image requirement you might imagine.
1974-1983
I was employed as a Graphic Designer / Illustrator for various printing companies for this ten year period. Starting with a sign company, followed by a typesetting firm, followed by a small instant printer, followed by a large commercial printer and finally managing a graphic production house.
